Madonna! This is the name and person that topped everyone in 2012. Madonna was named the biggest money maker in music in 2012, earning $34.6 million+ with a world tour (The “MDNA” Tour, which was 2012’s biggest tour) that helped her bring home “Big Bank” honors. The tour itself helped usher in an estimated $32 million – 93.5 percent of her revenue.
Second place was Bruce Springsteen with $33.4 million in revenue (which was also primarily driven by touring, playing to sold-out stadiums and arenas). Bruce also released a No. 1 album, “Wrecking Ball,” in 2012. 92 percent of Springsteen’s revenue also came from live shows where strong merchandise sales also boosted takings.
Justin Bieber came in 10th place with $16 million; with an estimated $10 million coming from his sold-out “Believe” arena tour. The full list can be seen at http://billboard.com/moneymakers
